I have some reasons to celebrate! I received and accepted job offer with a new employer, a local nonprofit who provides a unique and exciting service in the green-mobility and transportation sphere. I’m really excited for my work to once again engage my technical skills, be able to build a useful service that allows my community to free ourselves from car-dependency, and to reorient my career tragectory to better match my needs. The company has already gone above and beyond in proving their commitment to accessibility and their embrace of neurodiversity in the workplace. I can’t emphasise enough how excited I am for this new journey.

I’m going to miss working with my current employer. There were a lot of good opportunities, I was able to make a substantial impact, and I think the need for the work they’re doing still exists. Since announcing my departure, I’ve heard from a number of former students about the major positive impacts I’ve made on their lives, that’s something really special. I’ll still probably be involved in some, to-be-defined, volunteer capacity once I’ve settled in at the new org because of that. It wasn’t an easy decision to make to leave, anyone in the nonprofit space will know the struggle of needing to accept the need to sometimes be selfish and do what’s best for yourself & your family (oh boy - I wonder what the next exciting life update will be… 👉👈🤵👰).

Every time I publish a blog post, I include some joke about how I intended to write something more often. I think it’s finally time to accept that that likely isn’t going to happen, and that anything I publish here will be sporatic at best. However, I do have some things I’d like to share in a separate later posts:

  • A couple of interesting DIY IoT projects I’ve been working on
  • Getting involved in our local community transportation improvement group
  • Shutting down neighborhood NIMBY nonsense meetings and efforts to block housing construction
  • My experience of going (mostly) car-free this summer / fall
  • Thoughts on the whole Celsius Network bankruptcy and lessons learned from putting all my savings into cryptocurrency lending products
  • Thoughts on the 2022 elections, what I want to see from the #MNLeg in the next 2 years, and WTF is happening with the collapse of the GQP
  • Thoughts on Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover
  • My escalating climate crisis fears & what I’m doing about it

peace & love
